Letting Go: An Ordinary Woman’s Extraordinary Journey of Healing & Transformation

Midwest Book Review
Christy Tillery French
With five short words (“I never wanted this house”), Nancy Kaiser’s world came to a screeching halt. Nancy and her husband Bob had retired to North Carolina, where they planned to build their dream home on a mountain they chose as their special place. Before the house was finished, Bob said these words to Nancy, and from that point on, her world tilted and her life became off-balance. Alone, six hundred miles from family and friends, nothing seemed to go right for Nancy. On her own, she had to face the deaths of dear friends and beloved animal companions, as well as problems which kept cropping up with the house she moved into, all while dealing with the trauma of divorcing her husband.
Although the title describes Nancy as an “ordinary woman”, perhaps a more appropriate nomenclature would be an exceptional person in tune with nature who not only understands the connection between animals and humans but is able to communicate with animals. A woman dedicated to finding her center through spiritual and cerebral means, pitting ego against soul, learning to love herself, trust her decisions, and focus on the positive instead of the negative. This outstanding book leads the reader through Nancy’s soul-searching journey of transformation, from a woman filled with anger and rage and negativity to one who is at peace with herself and her feelings and has learned to let go of the things she cannot control. The reader will feel Nancy’s pain as she struggles and rejoice with her as she begins to progress toward her life’s goal. The lessons learned in this book are of great significance and will gift the reader with a better understanding of “self”. Highly recommended.
From powerless to powerful – well done!!

I could feel, see, hear, smell and taste everything she wrote about. I cried through the hard times and felt happy through the happy moments. This book is about feelings that hurt and how she worked her way through it all and became a strong woman again. This book is for every woman everywhere to show that despite all the bad things that happen in our lives, the Universe is ready to help all of us, if we are open and willing to learn and grow. Nancy A. Kaiser was willing and she did it. Read the book and you can do it too. I am on my way. Thank you.
In each of us

As I read this author’s struggles to deal with what was coming up in her life, and to just let go when necessary, I realized that there were parts of it that can apply to each of us. I cried through some chapters, because it was so close to my own story. In others, I was amazed by her resilience and determination to meet life head on. After reading the book, I am open to asking myself constantly what lesson life is trying to teach me, and to constantly ask myself, ’Can you let go of this?’ I have also felt for years that the appearance of animals in my path was not accidental, and Nancy has confirmed that for me. This author’s courage and honesty in sharing has inspired me to make some changes in my own life.
Compelling

I found Nancy’s story compelling and meaningful and she captured my attention from the start. Vividly written in the heat of swirling emotions, her writing reflects the turmoil she is experiencing in her life after a stunning betrayal and turn of events. Through it, she reveals a Truth for anyone who reads this book – that from the most traumatic and heart wrenching moments in life can come healing and repair but it takes extremely hard internal work, brutal honesty about one’s self (“how did I/my psyche or soul contribute to this situation?”), the fortitude to not run away from challenges, and an openness to receiving insight from unexpected – and maybe unseen – sources. Nancy has done all that, and reading her book, I found that I could experience her metamorphosis from a traumatized, agitated, and deeply saddened girl into a peaceful, joyful, and calm adult. It’s a good read!
Finding the Light

I found this book to be intriguing right from the beginning. I wanted to find out how this woman dealt with her husband leaving her after 29 years. Anyone that has been through a similar circumstance will find what Nancy went through quite helpful. I think at one time or another we have all been through the ABYSS, hopefully finding the light at the end of the tunnel.
Empowering

I found this book the most empowering story I have ever read. For anyone that is struggling with trying to get out from under, this is a gift. Nancy has a way of being able to put feelings on the written page so that you can identify and use them to help you along the way. Her story may not be your story, but the insight gained from her struggles will definitely give you many “light bulb moments.”
Excellent Book!

Nancy has written an excellent book about her personal journey of transformation. She truly demonstrated how an unexpected negative and traumatic experience was her foundation for enormous spiritual growth. Nancy effectively demonstrates the balance between being fully human and honoring a higher truth. As I read the book, I could relate to her struggles and her commitment to overcome the struggles and move to a place of peace that came from within. I had a lot of ah ha moments as I read the book and learned a lot about myself in the process. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially anyone who has been catapulted into a period of radical change in their life.
Letting Go

This book touches on many transitional aspects of our lives. The author was faced with many major life changes within a relatively short period of time and shares her personal journey through the dark shadows of old beliefs into the light of new awareness and perception. Her writing is as though she were sitting across the table and talking to you. You can almost see the expressions she would be making while speaking. I would recommend this book to everyone. It is about all of us.
The most inspirational book I’ve read since The Power of Now
Tracy F., August 19, 2009.
I found this book to be so eloquently written and inspirational that I had a hard time putting it down. I could not believe all the heart breaks one person could take and still come through it all with flying colors. I am awestruck by Nancy’s communication skills and challenge anyone who reads this book not to agree with me. Letting Go is also so much easier to read and comprehend than other inspirational books… her writing makes you feel so at ease, like you are feeling her pain and learning these lessons right by her side. I congratulate Nancy for finding her calling, committing to it and bringing so much happiness and serenity to people and animals in need. It probably made a huge impact on her recovering from such sadness. Kudos Nancy! I’ll be waiting for your next adventure!
The Mythic Hero’s Journey

Nancy Kaiser’s book, “Letting Go: An Ordinary Woman’s Extraordinary Journey of Healing & Transformation,” is a perfect example of the mythic Hero’s Journey. Having ascended the pinnacle of her dreams she is literally pushed off the edge into the abyss of her personal nightmares. Her path to healing is populated with guides: animal, human, mineral and spirit. Her story is excruciatingly honest, heart rending and inspiring. Nancy’s words are both compelling and rewarding for us who are searching for our own authentic identity in this moment of our lives.
Best book I’ve read in a long time!

I just finished reading Letting Go and I can honestly say it is one of the best books I have read. I typically enjoy memoirs and found this one to be so thought-provoking and inspirational. Nancy’s style of writing grabs you from the beginning and you can’t help becoming totally absorbed in her story. She is an extremely courageous woman who rose out of the “Abyss” to become who she is today- which is an accomplished writer and animal communicator. Her life lessons are applicable to all of us, regardless of our age or situation. I am eager to share this book with my friends and family. I eagerly await her next book!!!
Five Stars for Letting Go!
Laurel-Rain Snow, 12/29/2010
Poised on the threshold of her dream life, author Nancy Kaiser and her husband Bob had finally reached the beautiful mountain in North Carolina, where they would be building that dream home. And then, with just a few words from Bob, including “I never wanted this house,” Nancy’s dream world crashed.
For the next few months, with a divorce underway, she struggled daily with the demands of finding another home in which to live, trying to sell the mountain land, and dealing with all kinds of obstacles along the way; clinging primarily to her animal friends, she truly thought she would never climb out of the “abyss.” In the “tunnel” at last, she would begin to make progress, but then another trauma (or tragedy, like the deaths of friends 600 miles away), and she would feel herself plunging back into the abyss. As each new piece of pain pierced her, like the information that her ex-husband, whom she now called “the impostor,” had already begun another relationship before they separated, but had waited until that day on the mountain to tell her he wanted out. Finding out, she felt doubly betrayed.
But she found some “spiritual guides” who helped her discover her own ability to use her positive energy. And very slowly, she started the climb upward and into a more peaceful balanced place.
What was so intriguing about “Letting Go: An Ordinary Woman’s Extraordinary Journey of Healing & Transformation” was the conversational tone of the author, who made me feel as though I were chatting with her, listening to her inspirational stories that could show the rest of us how to reclaim our own peaceful place when faced with life’s challenges. I found myself cheering her on, hoping that she would finally reach that balance she sought. Some of the journey included trips to beautiful places like Maui, Sedona, and Mt. Shasta, reminding us that Nature sometimes is our best inspiration.
Kudos to this wonderful and inspirational story that deserves five stars.
Enchanting!

Enticing, enriching, enhancing and even enchanting …. this book will open your mind and take you to new heights if you let it. Funny how many parallels we all have even though we live very different and separate lives.
Ms. Kaiser’s writing technique is among the best I’ve encountered in this genre. She is refreshingly honest, open and sincere. I have read it more than once, always finding something new and meaningful. Get your highlighters ready! I would recommend this book to anyone, any age …. I hope she writes many more. Bravo !!!!!!!!!
